As much as we clean and disinfect our homes daily, there are almost always areas where bad odors persist. We can eliminate them in fast, homemade and very effective economic ways without having to resort to chemical products that only hide the smell but do not neutralize it.
We show you some tricks using only natural products that we usually have at home.
Eliminate the musty smell
This occurs when a room is closed for a long time without ventilation or, the bathrooms after showering, the environment remains damp, as do the towels, which can lead to mold.
To get rid of the musty smell make a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water in equal parts. Put it in a sprayer and spread it through those rooms that smell like moisture. The anti-fungal power that vinegar possesses will eliminate mold and that annoying smell. You can also put small containers with a little vinegar in the corners of these sites.
Smell of pipes
We must take special care that we discard the drains, sink, sinks ... since odors can be produced that are very difficult to bear. Therefore, it is recommended once a month (approximately) to add baking soda and a stream of vinegar down the drains. We will let this mixture work for at least 30 minutes or 1 hour. Then we put a pot of boiling water so that, with it, the dirt that has accumulated inside it is released.
There are certain foods that when we cook them give off an unpleasant smell, cauliflower, cabbage or broccoli, fish ... add nuts or hazelnuts (with their shell) in the cooking water. They will absorb odors. To eliminate cooking odors from fish, add a slice of fresh ginger. And when it comes to baked fish, place it on an aluminum foil with orange or lemon peels.
Smells in the fridge
You should simply wash it with hot water and vinegar. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes and rinse with plenty of water. Once it is clean, cut a lemon in half and pinch some nails, put them in the bottom of the fridge and they will eradicate the bad smells.
It is important to clean it periodically with bleach, and if the odors still persist, throw some cat litter at the bottom of the bucket or even inside the garbage bag. This will make it absorb bad odors.
The smell of vanilla essence is strong and penetrating and spreads easily. We can use it to eliminate bad odors that can occur in our closets. We take a cloth bag or a small bowl and pour a teaspoon of vanilla essence, put it in a corner and say goodbye to bad smells.
Coffee is a great odor neutralizer. If there are smokers in your house, it is a good idea to place small containers with coffee beans in the common areas of the house such as the living room. You can also use the remnants of ground coffee and put them in some cloth bags.
